Givenergy vs myenergi

Givenergy vs myenergi
Updated: 3 October 2025

A question our energy advisors get asked regularly is which home battery is better. The Givenergy battery range, or the new myenergi libbi battery. As two popular British brands of green energy products, it makes sense that consumers often debate Givenergy vs myenergi. In this blog, we will explore the strengths and weaknesses of both smart tech brands, and see how the two UK giants compare.

The Givenergy Battery

Givenergy battery storage system

GivEnergy’s home energy solutions include their own range of inverters and batteries, an advanced monitoring platform, smart plugs, a voltage optimiser, and an EV Charger. From 2.6kWh of storage to 13.5kWh, Givenergy offers a storage capacity suitable for every homeowner. With the ability to increase your capacity over time. Their latest all-in-one solution can deliver 7.2kW of peak power to your home, which is currently one of, if not the highest, discharge rates currently on the market.

Givenergy offers one of the most advanced monitoring portals in the industry and offers free technical support from their UK team.

The Main Advantages of Installing a Givenergy Battery

Works with octopus energy
  • Works with Octopus Energy

The Givenergy battery range has been designed to work seamlessly with smart energy tariffs, such as Octopus Agile. This means, whereas with the libbi battery system, you have to manually set it to force charge your battery at certain times, the Givenergy battery system uses Artificial intelligence to do so automatically. In order to take advantage of Plunge Prices. This can help homeowners receive a better return on their investment.

  • Open API

Unlike myenergi, Givenergy provides a free-to-use open API, which can easily be used to integrate new applications with Givenergy’s existing software. This is essentially how Givenergy works with Octopus energy. In comparison,  myenergi does not currently have an “official supported” API, that is as accessible for public use. In fact, some features in myenergi’s API are considered “premium” and require a small contribution to access them. So if you are a creative tech wizard looking to integrate your green devices with other computer programmes, myenergi may not be the home energy system for you.

  • Additional Warranty

When it comes to givenergy vs myenergi on warranty, they both currently offer a 10 year battery warranty, and a 5 year inverter warranty. The new 13.5kWh Givenergy battery is currently the only storage option in the Givenergy product range with a warranty of 5 years. However, Givenergy does provide the option to purchase a warranty extension for their inverter, extending the warranty from 5 years to 10 years. This costs around £200 and must be processed within 60 days of commissioning the system.

myenergi battery storage libbi

The myenergi Libbi Battery

The myenergi libbi battery is new to 2023. The 5kWh modular battery, allows homeowners to store up to 20kWh of energy per phase. The libbi battery is designed to work in harmony with the other myenergi devices and can charge from both the grid or renewable energy resources.

The myenergi battery is essentially a rebranded Kstar ESS battery, with integrated myenergi software. Whilst the myenergi version of the battery may be new, the Kstar model has been around for some time, and suspiciously also looks very similar to the new Solaredge battery. Founded over 20 years ago, KSTAR is a worldwide brand, that manufactures a variety of products widely used in television, health care, energy, and other fields. Partnered with CATL, one of the world’s biggest makers of lithium-ion batteries, the KSTAR battery system uses the same cell technology used to power major electric car brands including Tesla.

  • Ecosystem

Compared to Givenergy, myenergi have a wider ecosystem of products. The myenergi product range includes:

  • The myenergi zappi EV Charger – This smart EV Charger allows homeowners to charge their EV with power from the grid or home-generated renewable energy such as Solar PV.
  • The myenergi eddi – This immersion diverter, allows homeowners to divert self-generated energy into powering their heating systems.

The myenergi product range ensures that homeowners are making the most out of their green energy generation, keeping as much of their generated energy within the home as they can. What’s more, all of these smart energy-saving devices can be monitored and managed under one app and warrantied under one brand. So if you are looking for an all-in-one coherent system, myenergi may be the British brand for you.

Whilst Givenergy is slowly catching up, with their new EV charger soon to hit the market, the myenergi eddi and the brand’s more established product integration give myenergi the edge. Of course, this only becomes relevant depending on how often you will be using the app, or if you are considering installing an EV charger or immersion diverter with your Solar PV system also.

  • Customer Service

If you are looking for excellent and supportive customer service, myenergi just edges givenergy, with an overall Trustpilot review of 4.7  from ‎565 reviews, compared to Givenergy’s 3.3 out of  146 Reviews. myenergi provides superior customer service, which inspires brand loyalty and has been complimented highly, even down to their tech support. As a large long-term investment, it is important to choose a company, who are willing to put time into their customers, especially if you are not the most tech-savvy of homeowners.

  • A Brand of the Future

If you are looking to support a brand of the future, as one of Britain’s fastest growing private companies, myenergi is the easy option. Founded in 2016, myenergi already have 14.7k Twitter followers and has just secured a £30m investment from HSBC. This significant investment alone will allow myenergi to continue to innovate and grow, underlining its position as a leader in smart home tech.

myenergi employs over 400 staff here in the UK, and has sold over 500,000 products worldwide, with branches now in Ireland and Australia too. With their latest investment, who knows what smart devices you could be adding to your myenergi ecosystem next!

The Final Verdict on the Givenergy or myenergi debate

It is without a doubt that both the myenergi libbi battery and Givenergy battery range, are hot on the market right now.

Although the myenergi libbi is an excellent system, the cost per kWh of energy stored is far more expensive compared to the Givenergy battery range. The libbi battery has undoubtedly been priced as a premium product, due to its level of home integration. Although Givenergy has added its own EV Charger to its list of products, it is really the Eddi hot water immersion heater that is giving myenergi the competitive edge. As having one company control all elements of your solar system is the number one priority for many product owners.
